3rd Smart Factory Kunshan Tech Talk

July 2018

The 3rd Smart Factory Kunshan Tech Talk, co-hosted by Industrial IoT Innovation Center and Startup Factory, held on July 27th attracted about 100 Chinese, European and American professionals from intelligent manufacturing enterprises.

In Smart Factory’s quarterly event series, last week’s Tech Talk has had the focus on use cases, training programs and showcases already implemented or soon to be implemented in our new Smart Factory Kunshan Lab. Eight companies that take advantage of Smart Factory’s ecosystem, NavVis, China Unicom, Eplan, Wuerth, Siemens, Werma, ROI and Stratasys, presented first examples and experiences on our new physical IIoT platform. The Tech Talk set up several demonstration areas based on different topics, and the speakers displayed their equipment and technology on the spot. All participants could choose different venues along their own needs and interests.

NavVis technology enabled all participants to explore Smart Factory Lab virtual with their smart phones. Ms. Xiaoxi Liu from NavVis introduced their indoor spatial intelligence and factory digital twin technology on stage. Fujia SHI from China Unicom, which has signed an ecosystem partnership with Smart Factory Kunshan with the aim of providing connectivity solutions for a variety of smart factory use cases, gave a presentation. Frank Zhang talked about Eplan Smart Wiring and Mike Zhang introduced Wurth’s ORSYmat vending machines, which also will be used in Smart Factory in the future. Jimmy Liu from SIEMENS introduced the Innovation Lab and Siemens PLM Software, which will be set up in our Phase III next year and can be leased for application projects there. Michael Ellenrieder, General Manager of WERMA, shared the idea of SmartMonitor and StockSaver, which is already implemented as use case at Startup Factory family member Vogelsang-Mecanindus. Stanley Leung from Stratasys gave a speech on their 3D printing machine. Stratasys brought the 3D equipment on the spot to give participants a live experience. Stratesys 3D printer will be available on a fee per project base in Smart Factory from now on. Mr. Timo Schneemann, the Vice General Manager of ROI Management Consulting, launched ROI FATH Training Line at Smart Factory Lab.

It’s great to create such a platform for so many intelligent manufacturing enterprises! Smart Factory Kunshan Lab offers the opportunity to demonstrate the potential of IIoT solutions in both a real production environment and in a lab environment, where customers can explore technology. The traditional German food on Startup Factory’s roof terrace is always one of the most important links for networking and concluded the afternoon.
